Vegeåns FVOF Rules for sport fishing within the Vegeån fishery conservation area: To fish within Vegeåns FVO you are required to obtain a fishing license, you can do this here via www.ifiske.se Young people As a young person, you can fish for free with us in Vegeå until you turn 18. However, fishing licenses for youth must be purchased every day you fish via ifiske.se. When can I fish? Fishing for sea trout and salmon is permitted between 1/3-30/9. From 1/10 to 31/12, only fishing for perch and pike is permitted. When can I not fish? All fishing is prohibited during January and February! Minimum dimensions, maximum dimensions & ratio Sea trout: 45cm, All trout under 45cm must be carefully released back. A maximum of two salmonid fish may be taken (killed) per day. Salmon : 45cm (our recommendation is that all salmon are released). A maximum of two salmonid fish may be taken (killed) per day. Perch: Minimum size 25cm, Maximum size 35cm. Maximum number taken (killed) per day is 3. This means that you are only allowed to keep perch that are between 25 and 35cm. Smaller and larger than this range should be released carefully to protect the stock. Pike: Maximum size 60cm. All pike over 60cm must be carefully released back, this has been introduced to protect the fine population of large pike we have in the river. Eel: Total ban on fishing for eel How can I fish? Fishing is only permitted with hand gear. Permitted fishing methods are spinning, fly fishing and angling, but with certain additions. See below: Fishing NOT allowed during the period 1/3-1/6. Fishing for salmonid fish is prohibited all year round. Fishing from a boat is prohibited. During summer to autumn, fishing from a kayak and float ring is permitted. In this case, you are required to purchase the fishing license intended for this purpose. Other things to consider In the spring you will have a great chance of catching sea trout that were spawning last fall, these are called besor. The besar are often long and narrow and not a good food fish. If you catch a spawned fish, it is important that you release it as gently as possible. These fish are important and will hopefully return next autumn to spawn, then even larger. If you are unsure whether you have caught a besa?
