Trosa Amatörfiskeklubb Fishing license rules Everyone who fishes is required to know the applicable rules before starting fishing. To ensure better fishing in the future, we have decided to introduce strict catch & release for all fishing licenses in 2026. This means that no fish may be kept, regardless of the species of fish or type of fishing license. All fish are carefully released. (Keepnet may be used during fishing) Fishing is permitted between 06:00 and 22:00, January 1st - September 14th. A fishing license must be carried with all fishing and must be presented together with valid identification upon request. Fishing with ONE ROD, trolling, fly or angling with ONE hook (trawling with multiple factory-mounted hooks allowed, e.g. a wobbler with more than one hook). Please note! Fishing methods other than those specified as permitted above are completely prohibited, e.g. species such as net fishing, longlines, jerk fishing, sinking nets, cast nets (e.g. for bait fish), trolling, pike cutters, otter boards, angler fishing, and the use of hook-and-snag is completely prohibited throughout the year. It is not permitted to use fish as bait, either dead or alive. All fishing from 15 September to 31 December is prohibited. Applies to the entire Trosaåns FVO (see map below). This protection has been established by Trosaåns FVO, the Swedish Board of Fisheries (FIFS 2004:36) and the County Administrative Board of Södermanland County. Fishing is prohibited from the dam in Vagnhärad to the footbridge under the railway and in the rapids at Trosa Kvarn. This applies all year round. Fishing from boats and bridges over the Trosa River is prohibited. Make sure that the place you fished is as clean when you leave it as when you started fishing. The Trosa River is monitored by a number of trained supervisors, who carry out inspections of fishing almost every day. These have powers that are part of the supervision work. Violations of fishing regulations are punished through inspections and measures. The police and coast guard are called in if necessary. Confiscation of equipment and fishing licenses may occur. All revenue from fishing licenses goes to fisheries conservation work, such as stocking, training, etc. FVO, Trosa Amateur Fishing Club and Trosa Municipality are actively working to improve conditions for all fish, other animals and plants through the ambition to restore the Trosa River and create protected areas for spawning fish. To maintain the existing sea trout population, around 2-3,000 sea trout are released into the river annually.
