Vildmarksmekka AB Welcome to Camp Onka. Our regulations are designed to protect the fishery, ensure a high quality fishing experience and preserve this unique salmon river for future generations. Thank you for respecting the river, the fish and your fellow anglers. By purchasing a fishing permit, every angler agrees to follow the regulations below. 1. Fly Fishing Only Fly fishing is the only permitted method throughout the entire fishery. Spinning, bait fishing and all other fishing methods are prohibited. The use of single barbless hooks is strongly recommended to minimize harm to the fish and support sustainable catch and release fishing. From 15/8 barbless hooks are mandatory. 2. Catch Reporting Catch reporting is mandatory. All salmon, whether retained or released, must be reported before leaving the fishery. Catches shall be reported by e-mail to [email protected] 3. Harvest Limits No more than one salmon may be killed per day. No more than three salmon may be killed per season. Female salmon may not be killed during August. Minimum sizes: Grayling 35 cm, Trout 40 cm, Salmon 50 cm. Maximum daily harvest: Grayling 3 fish, Trout 1 fish. 4. Zone-specific Regulations Lipistöonka Fly fishing only. Boat fishing is prohibited. Onka Home Pool Fly fishing only. Boat fishing is prohibited. Pathakoski Fly fishing only. Boat fishing is permitted from the lower section of Pathakoski (the last long bend, approximately 3 km downstream, clearly signposted) to the boundary of the Kangos Fishery Conservation Area. 5. Fishing Etiquette Respect fellow anglers and rotate pools fairly. Handle all fish with care and keep them in the water whenever possible. Use a knotless landing net whenever possible. Leave no litter behind. Follow the instructions of the guide or fishery manager at all times. 6. Local Permits A limited number of permits at a reduced price are reserved for residents registered in Pajala Municipality. These permits are available exclusively from Lapland Guesthouse in Kangos.
