Rules & closed seasons
Stricter rules apply to trout than to most other species. In many rivers and streams, there is a closed season in autumn around the spawning period, together with local minimum sizes, retention limits and regulations on hooks and bait. The binding dates are set by the Länsstyrelse or the holder of the fishing rights; on the coast and in the five large lakes, a national minimum size also applies.
