Fishing for Wels catfish in Sweden: season & top waters

There are only three wels catfish populations in Sweden: in the Nyköpingsån system, including Lake Båven and adjacent lakes; in the Helge å system, including Möckeln and adjacent lakes; and in the lower reaches of the Emån. The population in Båven is Europe's northernmost wels catfish population. You should treat reports of its presence in lists of waters outside these systems with caution.
