The area is south of Högsby near the Aboda Klint nature reserve, a mountain which rises 50 metres above its surroundings and drops vertically into Lake Kleven. The area has a wilderness character with little development and is a perfect place to disconnect from everyday stress and enjoy the moment, preferably with a rod in your hand!The part of Badebodaån made available by Abodaortens fisheries conservation area extends from Porsemaden furthest upstream to just south of Bjärssjön (see map for the extent of the area along the river).BjärssjönBjärssjön is a nutrient-poor, moderately deep lake located within the scenic Allgunnen area approximately 14 km south of Högsby. The bottom character consists alternately of silt and mud with elements of stone and boulders. Aquatic vegetation is sparse, with scattered stands of bulrush and common reed along the shores. The shores of Bjärssjön are gently sloping and in places stony or bouldery, with some exposed bedrock. Bjärssjön is surrounded by coniferous forest, there is no development, and the lake and its surroundings have a distinct wilderness character. Badebodaån on the stretch from the old railway bridge up to Aboda Kvarn is included in the fisheries conservation area.The lake has good pike and perch fishing and holds quite a lot of roach and bream. Opportunities for fishing from the bank vary. Suitable fishing spots are along the lake's northern side by the road towards Kråksmåla and on points and exposed bedrock in the southern part of the lake.Fish species:Pike, perch, roach, bream, rudd, bleak and ruffe.Kleven and KvillenKleven and Kvillen are two small nutrient-poor rift valley lakes connected by a short canal. The lakes lie in the main channel of Badebodaån at Aboda Klint, approximately 13 km south of Högsby. Kleven is deep, while Kvillen, apart from a couple of deep areas, is very shallow. Both lakes mainly have soft bottoms, with elements of sand, stone and boulders, especially in Kleven. Aquatic vegetation is sparse in Kleven, but fairly abundant in Kvillen, where there is a fringe of bulrush along the shoreline. The shores along both lakes are stony, bouldery and include rock and exposed bedrock. The lakes are surrounded by coniferous forest and a scenic wilderness environment.The lakes offer fine fishing for perch and pike. Kleven holds large pike. Opportunities to fish from the bank are good around Kleven. Suitable fishing spots include around the bathing area and on points in the south-western part of the lake. Kvillen is more difficult to access from the bank, except for points on the lake's south-eastern side.Fish species:Pike, perch, roach, bream, bleak and ruffe.Allgunnens FVO:Allgunnen, with its 1310 hectares, is Kalmar County's second largest lake, located approximately 13 km south of Högsby within the scenic Allgunnen area. The lake is a distinct wilderness lake, known for good pike fishing, surrounded by coniferous forest and almost no development. The lake is easily accessible thanks to boat ramps and several boats for hire.The lake is moderately deep, indented and very rich in islands. The bottom character includes much stone and boulders. Allgunnen is a nutrient-poor lake with sparse vegetation, mainly consisting of scattered stands of reed, bulrush, water lilies and shoreweed. The lake's shores are gently sloping and consist mostly of stone and boulders.Allgunnen's eastern part is clearly delineated and called Bruddesjön. Fishing is not permitted in the eastern part of Bruddesjön - see below.Opportunities for fishing from the bank are generally good, particularly along the lake's western side. Fishing from a boat is, however, recommended. Along the edges of the lake's deep channel are reliable fishing spots for pike and perch. For the canoeing enthusiast, the area offers large expanses to travel across. Beginning in Kvarnsjön, you can easily make your way through the closely linked Boasjön, Öasjön and Yttran, naturally with a rod in the canoe to fish the areas that invite casting. The area also includes, outside the main channel of Badebodaån, Grytsjön, Sävsjön and Skiresjö.The lakes in the area are generally nutrient-poor and surrounded by coniferous forest. The limited development gives you a feeling of wilderness as you paddle downstream.The fisheries conservation area is described beginning furthest upstream.BadebodaånThe part of Badebodaån made available within the fisheries conservation area extends from the municipal boundary with Uppvidinge municipality west of Grönskåra to a little way downstream of Skoga (a few kilometres downstream of Yttran). The river is on average around 10 metres wide along this stretch and generally has a depth of 1-4 metres. A suitable canoe launching place is at Grönskåra along road 125 (see map).Fish species:Pike, perch, roach, bream, bleak and burbot.KvarnsjönThe journey continues to Kvarnsjön, where you should best launch your canoe or boat on the western side of the lake (see map). The shallow Kvarnsjön offers good fishing for large pike and perch of a good average size. There is also an opportunity to catch large bream. Badebodaån's inlet and the area outside Sjömaden on the lake's western side are good fishing spots.Fish species:Pike, perch, zander, roach, bream, bleak and burbot.BoasjönAfter about half a kilometre of paddling on Badebodaån you then reach the considerably deeper Boasjön, with a maximum depth of just under 13 metres and an average depth of around 4 metres.The lake is 54 hectares in size and opportunities for fishing from the bank are generally good if you do not have a boat or canoe. Suitable fishing spots include exposed bedrock along the lake's eastern and southern sides. From a boat, there are good fishing spots outside Badebodaån's inlet and outlet and beside brushwood bundles in the southern part of the lake. Zander fishing is recommended near the lake's deep area.Fish species:Perch, pike, zander, bream and burbot.Öasjön and YttranThe long, narrow lakes Öasjön and Yttran follow downstream of Boasjön. These lakes also offer good opportunities for fishing from the bank. Suitable fishing spots include exposed bedrock along Öasjön's north-western and south-eastern sides. In Yttran, suitable fishing spots are on points and exposed bedrock in the middle part of the lake. From a boat, fishing can advantageously be concentrated around islands and near Badebodaån's inlet and outlet.A boat launching place is at Badebodaån's outlet at the eastern end of Öasjön (see map).Fish species:Pike, perch, zander, roach, bream, bleak and burbot.Grytsjön, Skiresjö and SävsjönThese 3 lakes are also included in the fisheries conservation area. Grytsjön and Sävsjön are south of Boasjön and Skiresjö north of Öasjön. Opportunities for fishing from the bank vary. Suitable fishing spots may include exposed bedrock along the lakes. All the lakes have fine pike and perch fishing, but Grytsjön probably has the best pike fishing.A boat launching placeis in the south-western part of Grytsjön (see map).Fish species:Perch, pike, roach, tench, bream and burbot.Minimum size for zander is 40 centimetres.Handbörds FVO:Emån is a high-quality water for angling. The fish-rich river offers very good angling for several species, such as perch, bream, tench and roach. Emån holds large bream and tench. In the flowing sections there is also a chance of catching chub of good size by angling with floating bread. Spinning for Emån's large pike is another exciting challenge. The stretch of Emån managed by Handbörds fisheries conservation area extends from Högsby power station up to the municipal boundary with Hultsfred, just north of Trånshult.Most of the river's surroundings lie within fertile, culturally rich and scenic agricultural land. The available stretch is approximately 15 km long and is mostly slow-flowing with isolated flowing sections. The bottom structure of the river is dominated by soft bottoms except in the flowing sections, where the bottoms consist of stone and boulders. Vegetation is generally sparse, with a moderate occurrence of, among other things, reed and water lilies in the quiet sections. The immediate surroundings along Emån consist mainly of arable and meadow land, with scattered stands of deciduous trees in places.Opportunities for fishing from the bank are good. Good and suitable fishing spots are along the eastern side of the river from Blankaström down to Högsby. At Ryngen in the upper available part of Emån is a larger marsh area within which bank fishing is not suitable.For bank fishing along Emån's western side on the stretch from Dalby up to Blankaström power station, the landowner's permission is required. However, fishing from a boat and canoe is permitted within this stretch without special consent.Do not enter fields with growing crops and take care around fences. Do not park so that an obstruction or inconvenience is created for agriculture or other traffic.Fish species:Pike, perch, trout, roach, bream, silver bream, rudd, tench, chub and bleak.Fishing for catfish is prohibited because catfish is protected. Any caught catfish must unconditionally be released back into the river.Minimum size for trout and salmon is 50 centimetres. All salmon and sea trout marked with radio transmitters must be released.Högsby/Emådalens FVO:Emån flows through a fertile agricultural landscape rich in cultural history and beautiful views of Småland nature. The river is a very popular water among anglers and can offer battles with large pike, tench, bream and chub. Opportunities for fishing from the bank are good. At Lanhagen in central Högsby there are good fishing spots with good accessibility and fishing platforms which are accessible to disabled people.The lower section of Emån included in the Tourist Fishing Permit extends from the municipal boundary with Mönsterås at Åsebo up to the power station in Högsby. The available stretch is approximately 11 km long and is mostly slow-flowing, but flowing stretches occur at Lanhagen, Tingebro, Strösnäs and Åsebo.The bottom structure in the river's quiet sections is dominated by soft bottoms, while the bottoms in flowing sections consist of stone, boulders and gravel. Vegetation is generally sparse, but some reed and water lilies spread in the quiet sections. The relevant stretch of Emån is surrounded mainly by arable land, with some pasture and mixed forest in the lower parts. This part of Emån is managed and made available by Högsby/Emådalens fisheries conservation area association.Salmon and sea trout catches occur from time to time, although relatively few fish of these species get this far up the system.Fish species:Salmon, trout, perch, pike, roach, bream, silver bream, rudd, tench, chub, ide and bleak.PermitFishing is prohibited between 30/9 and 1/3 to protect trout during its spawning period. Trout fishing is not permitted with the tourist fishing permit.Fishing for catfish is prohibited because catfish is protected. Any caught catfish must unconditionally be released back into the river.Minimum size for trout and salmon is 50 centimetres. All salmon and sea trout marked with radio transmitters must be released.Kiasjön m.fl. sjöars FVO:Badebodaån links the fisheries conservation area together, which in addition to the river also makes fishing available in a number of lakes in the system. This means that there is much water to explore, including Kiasjön, which is known for good zander fishing. Zander is also found throughout the system, including in the river. In Kiasjön, perch around half a kilo are common and large pike also sometimes occur in catches.If you head downstream through the fisheries conservation area, you encounter the following waters:FeresjönThe lake is small (40 hectares), deep and nutrient-poor, located 3 km west of Fagerhult. The lake mainly has soft bottoms, with some stone and boulders. Aquatic vegetation is sparse and is found mainly in the lake's north-western bay called Svalget. Feresjön has alternating firm shores and bog shores. The lake's surroundings consist of mixed forest and pasture.Fish species:Pike, perch, zander, roach, bream, bleak and tench.BadebodaånThe section of Badebodaån managed and made available by Kiasjön m.fl. sjöars Fvof extendsfrom Rövaremåla up to Feresjön's outlet into the river just upstream of Kiasjön.Along the section there are alternating flowing sections consisting of stone, boulders and gravel, while soft bottoms dominate in the pools. Vegetation is abundant in the pools and consists of reed and water lilies. Badebodaån's immediate surroundings consist of coniferous forest and have a strong wilderness character.The part of Badebodaån made available within the fisheries conservation area is 8 km long and approximately 10 m wide. Depth along the stretch varies between 1 and 4 m. Pike and perch fishing is good and suitable fishing spots from the bank are, among other places, upstream of the river's mouth in Kiasjön, and in the pools downstream of Björkshult.Fish species:Perch, pike, zander, roach, bream, bleak and tench.KiasjönKiasjön is a 192-hectare, nutrient-poor lake located approximately 3 km south-west of Fagerhult. The lake is deep with alternating sand, stone and mud bottoms. Aquatic vegetation is generally sparse but more aquatic vegetation is found in most bays. The lake's shores are generally firm, in places stony, and include exposed bedrock. Kiasjön's surroundings consist of mixed forest. From a boat, there are good fishing spots in Rotamosseviken and outside Kiatorp. Opportunities for fishing from the bank are generally good. Suitable fishing spots are mainly along the lake's eastern side.Fish species:Perch, pike, zander, roach, bream, rudd, bleak, tench and ruffe.BjörkshultssjönBjörkshultssjön lies immediately beside the community of Björkshult and is a small (only 15 hectares) nutrient-rich lake. Stora Sinnern is a 230-hectare nutrient-poor lake located approximately 8 km south of Högsby. Stora Sinnern is enclosed by coniferous forest and, because the lake is not surrounded by much development, a feeling of untouched wilderness comes after a while of fishing on the lake.Suitable and accessible fishing spots from the bank are mainly adjacent to the road along the lake's western side. Large pike weighing up to 10 kg occur in the lake.The lake is deep, 25,5 metres at its deepest, with an average depth of 10,5 metres, and has alternating soft, stony and bouldery bottoms. Aquatic vegetation is sparse and is found mainly in the lake's shallower bays. Stora Sinnern's shores are firm and consist of stone, boulders and exposed bedrock. Fishing in Stora Sinnern is managed and made available by Sinnersjöarnas Fvof.Fish species:Perch, pike, zander, roach, bream, silver bream, rudd, bleak, tench, ruffe, vendace and burbot.PermitZander must be between 45 – 65 cm. Thereafter pike can be quite difficult to catch. Angling for perch, roach, bream and tench is good throughout the summer half of the year. The part of the lake located towards the villages of Djuphult, Stenbrohult and Grönskåra is shallow, with an average depth of 1,5 - 2 metres and muddy bottoms. The lake, located just north-west of Fagerhult, holds a strong pike population where fish between 3 and 5 kilos are common. Välen also has potential for larger fish, as specimens up to 15 kilos have been caught. But to encounter the larger fish requires, as usual, patience, knowledge and a good portion of luck.The lake's bottom structure consists alternately of clay, mud and stone. Aquatic vegetation is sparse in most of the lake except for the shallow bays in the northern parts, where aquatic vegetation spreads to a greater extent. The lake's shores are predominantly firm with elements of boulders and exposed bedrock, mainly along the eastern side. Välen's surroundings consist mainly of coniferous forest, but in the lake's north-western part there are also elements of deciduous forest and grazing land.Opportunities for fishing from the bank are generally good, especially along the lake's eastern side. Suitable fishing spots include at Välsgärde, on exposed bedrock at Hällaklint, near Välenbaden and along the road bridge in the south-eastern part of the lake. Älmten, which at 55 hectares is the larger of the lakes, has a rich population of pike and relatively large-growing tench. The lakes are east of Fagerhult.ÄlmtenÄlmten is a moderately nutrient-rich lake located approximately 3 km east of Fagerhult. The lake is predominantly shallow with alternating sand, stone, boulder and mud bottoms. Aquatic vegetation is moderate, with in places a dense belt of sedge, bulrush and reed along the shores. The lake's shores are firm, with small to large boulders, and include exposed bedrock in the north-eastern part. Älmten is surrounded by coniferous forest and the lake and its surroundings have a wilderness character.Opportunities to fish from the bank vary. Suitable fishing spots are mainly along the road embankment and on exposed bedrock along the lake's north-eastern side. Pike of 6-8 kilos occur from time to time in sport fishing in the lake.Fish species:Perch, pike, roach, bleak, tench, ruffe, burbot and crucian carp.BroasjönThe lake is a small, moderately nutrient-rich lake located approximately 6 km north-east of Fagerhult. The lake is shallow and mainly has soft bottoms with some stone and boulders. Aquatic vegetation is moderate with belts of reed in bays and along most of the lake's shores. Broasjön's shores are firm with some elements of boulders and exposed bedrock. In several places the shores are encircled by deciduous scrub, making the lake difficult to access from the bank. The lake's surroundings consist of spruce forest.Opportunities for fishing from the bank, in the small 11-hectare lake, are best on points and exposed bedrock along the lake's south-western and eastern sides. From a boat, angling beside brushwood bundles is recommended.
