Three levels instead of one list of rules
For a specific fishing location, three levels must align: Swedish law, regional protection provisions and the conditions of the local fishing permit. A general country overview can therefore never replace the rules for an individual water.
Check coasts and large lakes
For coastal waters as well as Vänern, Vättern, Mälaren, Hjälmaren and Storsjön, Svenska fiskeregler provides an official map view. Filter by area, species and fishing method. The map is for guidance; if there are discrepancies, the published legal text applies.
Read inland waters correctly
For lakes and rivers outside these areas, closed seasons, minimum sizes, retention windows, daily limits, boat rules and closed sub-areas are often stated directly in the conditions of the fishing permit. Check not only the sales page, but also PDF attachments and the marked water boundary.
No fixed seasonal promises
Closed seasons may vary by species, section of water and year. Nordwasser therefore does not present a general season as a binding statement. What matters is the dated rule source for the relevant water – preferably opened again on the day of arrival.
Practical chain of evidence
Save the proof of purchase, map boundary and rules together on your phone. In the event of short-notice changes, note the link and the access date. This makes it possible to see which version you planned under.
