Leave the fish in the water while you gently loosen the hook with a pair of pliers or pliers. Hold the fish until it stands on its own, then release it carefully. Be careful not to stress the fish unnecessarily! If the fisherman catches a salmon during the permitted time that he judges to be so injured that it will not survive, the fisheries inspector must be contacted for a decision on whether to kill the salmon. Contact information for the fisheries inspectors can be found on the association's website. Killed salmon goes to the village association where the annual general meeting for the year was held and must be given to them. Wrongly hooked fish: A properly hooked fish should be hooked inside the mouth. The hook should be in the mouth hooked from the inside out. If the hook is on the outside of the mouth, the fish should be considered incorrectly hooked, and therefore must be released dead as alive. . Do n't forget: Protect nature and keep it clean! Åbyälven is a forest river approximately 165 km long. The lower stretches fal ... At excessively high water temperatures, we close the waters. For more information see our website is a 175km long forest river with its source flow in Arvidsjaur municipality, Norrbotten. The final 43km lie within Västerbotten County. Åbyälven's drainage basin lies entirely in forest country and is therefore not significantly affected by snowmelt in the mountain range. The drainage basin consists of a moraine landscape of coniferous forest and mires with a few large tributaries. After the county boundary up to the outlet, the river is surrounded by an increasing proportion of stretches of agricultural land. The lower stretches descend more steeply than any other northern Swedish river and offer a large number of pleasant runs and rapids. The river is classified as a Natura-2000 area and is considered to have high species diversity; key species such as salmon, otter and freshwater pearl mussel occur in the area. Many rare plant species can also be found along the river, such as Västerbotten's provincial flower Kung Karls spira. Åbyälvens Nedre FVO extends from the fresh- and saltwater boundary at Renholmens quay up to the suspension bridge in Blåfors. The lakes Bastusjön, Åbyträsket and Djupsjön are also included. In addition to salmon, there are fine stocks of trout, grayling, perch and pike in the river. In the lakes, pike, perch and roach are common species. The main upstream migration of salmon in the river takes place during spring and early summer.Åbyälvens lower FVO has an active board with an operational plan that includes fisheries management and work to maintain accessible and pleasant fishing. Åbyälven salmon is a naturally self-reproducing salmon stock which is unique by Swedish standards. It has not, to the same extent as many other northern Swedish rivers, been subject to stocking with other non-native salmon stocks. This means that salmon in the river is almost genetically identical to the original Åbyälven salmon. In the 1990s great hope was placed in a fish ladder built at Hednäs power station. The idea was that salmon would reach fine spawning beds and nursery areas upstream of the power station, and also fine areas in Norrbotten County. Unfortunately, there have been problems with the solutions made for upstream and downstream fish migration, with the result that the population increase of the salmon stock in Åbyälven has not occurred. This is why FVO has introduced stricter rules for salmon fishing than the authorities' general requirements for a salmon-bearing water. We care for our unique salmon stock. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 17 years. Åby Älvs Nedre Fisheries Conservation Area was formed in the late 1980s to carry out, on behalf of the fishing-rights owners, care and management of fishing in the river. The fisheries conservation area extends from the fresh- and saltwater boundary at Renholmens quay up to the suspension bridge in Blåfors. The lakes Bastusjön, Åbyträsket and Djupsjön are also included.
