Testeboåns FVOF Fishing rules Testeboåns FVO 1.0 - Fishing time Fishing within the fishery conservation area's Zone 1 is permitted all year round. Zone 1 is between the quay at Vävaren down to Fredrikskansbron at the mouth. In Zone 2, fishing is permitted from April 1 to September 15, and on other days of the year there is a total fishing ban on that stretch. Zone 2 begins at Oskarsbron and ends at the power line above Brännsågen. 1.1 - Fishing ban Fishing is prohibited in the following areas (See also the map on iFiske of Prohibited Areas): - Oskarsbron to the quayside below Vävaren (Abborrstenen). - Within a 50 m radius from Skanshålet at Fredrikskansbron (Mynningen). 1.2 - Children & young people Children and young people up to and including 12 years of age fish for free but need to know the rules. 1.3 - Fishing license Fishing license/Fishing license certificate and Trial fishing license are personal. Fishing license/Fishing license certificate must be carried and shown to the fishing inspector if requested. Name, date and time of purchase must be stated on the card. 24-hour card is valid for 24 hours, Weekly card is valid for 7 days and Annual card is valid for 1 year from the time of purchase. Trial fishing license must be carried during fishery conservation work and must be shown to anyone who asks. 1.4 – Violation of fishing regulations In case of violation of the rules, TFVOF has the right to charge an inspection fee of 1500 SEK. Exceptions are violations of point 1.3 when the inspection fee is 4400 SEK. Fishing license/Fishing license certificate does not give any other right than fishing according to the rules below. 2.0 - Fishing gear Only fishing with hand gear is permitted. Hogging is prohibited. Jerk fishing is prohibited. For ice fishing, a maximum of 10 fishing rods per card apply. Fishing rods must be marked with the owner's name. Scissors are prohibited. Ice fishing counts as angling. 2.1 - Angling In zone 2, fishing in flowing water is completely prohibited. Fishing is only permitted if it is within a longer stretch of clear, slow-moving water. 2.2 - Fishing from a boat Fishing from a boat is permitted between the power line and the railway bridge upstream of Brännsågen and between Lexvallsbron and Skansbanken. Trolling is always prohibited. 3.0 – Fish Handling (C&R) Each fisherman may catch a maximum of five fish per day, provided the species is legal. When releasing the fish, always handle it in a way that avoids damage. Wet your hands before handling, and avoid lifting the fish out of the water. A sharp hook may not be used. A fish that is incorrectly hooked must always be released. 3.1 - Salmon & trout Salmon & trout should always be released regardless of the condition of the fish. 3.2 - Grayling Grayling should always be released regardless of the condition of the fish. 3.3 – Eel Eels should always be released regardless of the condition of the fish. 3.4 – Pike Pike longer than 80 cm must always be released regardless of the condition of the fish. 3.5 - Whitefish Whitefish should always be released regardless of the condition of the fish. 3.6 – Pikeperch Pike perch 50–70 centimeters are allowed. Directed fishing for pike perch is prohibited during the period May 15 – June 15 due to spawning period. 4.0 - High temperatures At high temperatures, mortality is high when releasing fish, especially salmonids. Always avoid directed fishing for species with release requirements if the water temperature is higher than 20 degrees. In case of extreme temperatures, the FVO may cancel fishing in zone 2, between Vävaren and Brännsågen. In the event of a current fishing ban, the information is always in red text at the top of this rules page and on the FVO website. 4.1 - Catch report Catch reports must always be submitted within 24 hours on iFiske. 4.2 – Rotational fishing When fishing in zone 2, rotational fishing applies. This means that when starting fishing, you always start upstream of an existing fisherman. Then you always move downstream after each cast. This is to give everyone the same space to fish through a stretch. 4.3 - Show consideration Always be considerate when fishing. The Fishing Act states that you must not cause problems for other people. Also show consideration for nature and always throw garbage in trash cans or take it home. Fishing Regulations – Testeboåns FVO 1.0 – Fishing Period Fishing in Zone 1 is allowed all year round. Zone 1 extends from the quay at Vävaren down to Fredrikskans Bridge at the river mouth. In Zone 2, fishing is allowed from April 1 to September 15. During the rest of the year, a total fishing prohibition applies in that stretch. Zone 2 begins at Oskars Bridge and ends at the power line above Brännsågen. 1.1 – Fishing Prohibitions Fishing is prohibited in the following areas (see also the map on iFiske for restricted areas): - From Oskars Bridge to the quay edge below Vävaren (Abborrstenen). - Within a 50 m radius of Skanshålet at Fredrikskans Bridge (the mouth). 1.2 – Children & Youth Children and youth up to and including 12 years of age may fish without buying a license but must be aware of the fishing rules. 1.3 – Fishing license Fishing licenses are personal. The license must be carried and shown to a fisheries inspector upon request. Name, date, and time of purchase must be stated on the license. - Day license: valid for 24 hours - Weekly license: valid for 7 days - Year license: valid for 1 year from purchase date 1.4 – Violations of Regulations In case of violations of the rules below, TFVOF has the right to charge a control fee of SEK 1500. Violations of section 1.5 incur a fee of SEK 4400. A fishing license does not grant any rights beyond fishing according to these rules. 2.0 – Fishing Gear Only hand-held fishing gear is permitted. Net fishing is prohibited. Snagging is prohibited. For ice fishing, a maximum of 10 tip-ups per permit is allowed. Tip-ups must be marked with the owner's name. Use of "scissors" (hooking device) is prohibited. Ice bait fishing counts as angling. 2.1 – Bait Fishing In Zone 2, bait fishing methods such as float fishing with worms or bottom fishing are prohibited in flowing water. These methods are only permitted in sections with clearly slow-moving water. 2.2 – Fishing from Boats Fishing from boats is permitted between the power line and the railway bridge upstream of Brännsågen, and between Lexvalls Bridge and Skansbanken. Trolling is always prohibited. 3.0 – Fish Handling (Catch & Release) Each angler may keep a maximum of five fish per day, provided the species is legal. When releasing fish: - Handle fish carefully to avoid injury - Wet your hands before handling - Avoid lifting the fish out of the water - Gaffs may not be used - Foul-hooked fish must always be released 3.1 – Salmon & Trout Salmon and trout must always be released regardless of condition. 3.2 – Grayling Grayling must always be released regardless of condition. 3.3 – Eel Eel must always be released regardless of condition. 3.4 – Pike Pike longer than 80 cm must always be released regardless of condition. 3.5 – “Whitefish” Sik must always be released regardless of condition. 3.6 – Zander Zander between 50–70 cm may be kept. Targeted fishing for zander is prohibited from May 15 to June 15 due to spawning. 4.0 – High Temperatures At high water temperatures, mortality rates increase when releasing fish, especially salmonids. Avoid targeted fishing for species with mandatory release if the water temperature exceeds 20°C. In extreme temperatures, the FVO may close fishing in Zone 2 (between Vävaren and Brännsågen). If so, the information will be displayed in red text at the top of this rule page and on the FVO website. 4.1 – Catch Reporting Catch reports must always be submitted within 24 hours via iFiske. 4.2 – Rotational Fishing In Zone 2, rotational fishing applies. This means: - Start upstream of an existing angler - Move downstream after each cast This ensures everyone has equal opportunity to fish the stretch. 4.3 – Show Consideration Always show consideration when fishing. The law states that you must not cause disturbance to others. Also respect nature. Dispose of trash properly in bins or take it home with you.

Testeboån is easily accessible, runs through communities and forest with both rushing and calm water. The river has the most common fish species, and we have a stock of vimba that is among the largest in the country. Salmon and trout of all sizes provide rewarding Catch and Release fishing and a relaxing nature experience. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 12 years. Testeboån's FVOF manages fishing in Testeboån in Gävle, from the river mouth at Skansbanken to the power line upstream of Brännsågen.
