Lagan (Laholms Laxfiske)

Laholms Laxfiske Fishing license: A fishing license is required for sport fishing in Lagan. The fishing license is personal and may not be transferred. Lost fishing license will not be replaced! Children under 18 fish for free. NOTE! The annual pass must be issued as a physical card at Laxahuset in Gröningen. See contact details for further information. Annual passes are valid for the calendar year (the year stated on the card). Fishing times: Premiere day: 1/3 regardless of the ice condition. Scrub: 8/3–31/12. Salmon, trout, other fish: 1/3–14/10. 1–30/9 (September): Fishing allowed from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. 1–14/10 (October): Fishing allowed from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. 1–7/3 and 1–14/10: Fishing only with annual pass! Fishing method: Only one rod per person. Only one bait/draw per rod. Hand tools only. Use lead-free pulls and sinkers. Think about the environment! Unauthorized fishing methods: a) Jerk fishing is prohibited under Swedish law. b) Fish that have been intentionally or unintentionally mishooked, hooked in places other than the mouth and throat, must be unhooked with the greatest care and immediately released. The fish must not be taken out of the water during this operation. c) Upstream throwing is not permitted. d) 1-14/10 only fishing with single hooks allowed. e) The largest hook size allowed is 12 mm from hook tip to shank. Violation of applicable rules may result in the revocation of fishing rights. Boat fishing: Trolling only between the outlet of Smedjeån and to the island just upstream of Lagaoset (the mouth). No fishing from a boat during the month of March and 15/9–14/10. Spinning fishing: Spinning fishing means fishing with a spinning or reel rod and a multiplier or reel. Bait permitted are spoon lures, spinners, wobblers, spinning flies, jigs and fishing with baited hooks. All other baits are therefore prohibited. Fly fishing: Fly fishing means fishing with a fly rod, fly line, jig and fly. Be careful when wading. The water level may rise without prior warning. Fishing area: Fishing permitted from a sign approx. 250 m downstream of Laholm power station and to the sea, a distance of approx. 8 km. 1–14/10 fishing only from the upper limit of fishing up to the western tip of Ösarp Island (for flounder see below). Fly fishing: At Jises pool (northern reef), Per Karls Hall, Bryggan (Sewage treatment plant) and Svinaholmen (Ösarp) within signposted areas. Apply rotational fishing when fishing pressure is high! Spinning fishing: Gröningen, Halmstadhålan and the water treatment plant (by the power line) within signposted areas. Flounder is only fished on the Daggan – sea route and only with bottom fishing. A special fishing license applies to the Smedjeån River. See the map for information about the different fishing areas. Catch quantity: Fishermen may keep a maximum of three salmonid fish per day. Spawned salmon and trout, known as besa, must be released back into the wild. Salmon with the adipose fin remaining should be returned. Registration: Caught salmon and trout must be measured, weighed and reported no later than the day after the day of catch . Reporting is mandatory: Reporting can be done on our website or at Laxahuset in Gröningen. An annual pass will be raffled off to one of the people who have reported their catch. Supervision: The angler must wear his fishing license clearly visible in a plastic pocket on his arm and otherwise follow the instructions given by the supervisor. The angler is obliged to know the fishing rules and carefully observe the regulations. Anglers who violate applicable regulations and fishing rules, or who behave in a disruptive manner to other anglers or non-anglers, will be banned from continuing to fish in Lagan. As an angler, we assume that you show consideration for the environment in which you are staying with its nature and wildlife. Think about the damage a discarded line or hook can cause in nature. Waste, food, paper, etc. are thrown into garbage cans. Fishermen must be able to provide identification at the request of a supervisor. Marking fishing spots with rods and backpacks, etc. and then walking away is not permitted. Rule changes. Changes or additions to the rules may be made during the current season. These are posted at Laxahuset and on our website. It is up to you as an angler to stay informed about the current regulations for fishing. Violation of applicable rules may result in the revocation of fishing rights.
