Welcome to Löftaåns fisheries management association!Löftaån forms the boundary between Varberg and Kungsbacka kommuner and flows out at Frillesås community. Our water extends from the sea to the railway bridge and fishing is only from the northern part of the river. There is a small car park for a maximum of 3 cars. Read more here!In order not to harm spent salmonid fish and fish that do not meet the size requirement in Löftaån, we have, on the recommendation of the County Administrative Board and Sportfiskarna, made the prohibition on passive bottom angling and fishing with a treble hook in Löftaån permanent during 1/4 - 15/5. We also have increased monitoring by fisheries bailiffs during the period.The trout fishing season opening on 1 April is a festive day for sport anglers in Halland. Many bright sea trout, known as Greenlanders, have migrated up from the sea to seek food in the rivers. Spent sea trout are also there and, if caught, must be released, as they are unsuitable for eating. Sea-trout fishing in the rivers continues until 30 September. If spring is warm and the water temperature rises rapidly, fishing may end earlier. You must then seek the fish along the coast instead. At high water flows in August and September, sea trout begin once again to migrate up the watercourses to spawn. Sea trout spawn during October - December. Membership and permits Our activities also focus on habitat management of Löftaån and, in order to know how our work produces results, you must report your catch report to us whether you retain or release the fish.
