During the first years, management focused on fisheries conservation in the form of stocking zander and pike, but also on improving the fish's environments and habitats. Today's management is largely focused on developing recreational fishing in Lake Hären and surrounding lakes. Fisheries conservation in the association is today carried out with the same basic purpose as before: to favour the conditions for fishing and work for sound fisheries management that benefits fish stocks. The following lakes are within the area: Hären, Svanhalsen (Hyltesjön), Gnosjösjön (Kyrksjön), Kärven, Sunnerbosjön, (lillsjön), Horsasjön, Maggagölen, Hagasjön, Gärdessjön and Sjöarpssjön. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 16. Hären and several lakes fisheries management area was formed in 1938. A shared ambition was to care for and preserve the lakes that at that time were under the association's management.
