Össsjöasjön is a small island-rich inland lake bordered by decididuous forest in the south-western parts of Torpa and Vrå parishes in Kronoberg County. Its area is around 65 hectares, but the surface was somewhat larger before the drainage attempt in the middle of the 1800s. The depth is not impressive, but in places amounts to 3 and 3,5 metres. The name Össjöasjön is probably a change and extension of the designation Öasjön, i.e. the lake with several islands. This name occurs in other places in the country. Öasjön became Össjön, from which arose the farm and village name Össjöa and then Össjöasjön from that. Fishing rights in the lake belong to property owners in the villages of Össjöa, Össjöhult and Mosslunda.The area consists of Össjöasjön, Össjöa's part of Bäjseltasjön, Gummestasjön, Hampsjön, Össjabäcken and Gummestabäcken. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 14 years. Only when accompanied by a guardian/adult/person with a valid permit (on that person's quota) Össjasjöns fisheries management area was formed in 2008 after the lake had previously, since 1979, belonged to Vänneåns fisheries management area. Before that, Össjasjöns fisheries management association had been formed in 1936. Pike, perch and roach are what are fished in Össjöasjön, Gummestasjön and Hampsjön.
