Sandsjön is located in Lenhovda parish and forms part of the source area of Ronnebyån, and its inflow is from surrounding forest land; the water is therefore rich in humus. Thanks to continuous liming, the lake water maintains good quality. Fishing in Sandsjön offers fine opportunities to land large perch and pike. The lake is easily accessible from national road 31 at the eastern part of the lake and from the village of Åhult at its southern tip. Permits are available for casting rod and angling (season permits and day permits), angling and ice jigging respectively (season permits), and set-line fishing (day permits). Young people under 16 years fish together with an adult within the same authorisation as that adult. The fishing season extends from 1 May to 15 October, except for ice fishing, which runs from 1 December to 15 February of the following year. Simple boat berths at both ends of the lake may, if needed, be assigned to holders of season permits. A simple launching ramp for boat trailers is available on request. Welcome to Sandsjön! Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 15 years. Only when accompanied by a guardian/adult/person who has a valid permit (on that person's quota) The fisheries management area has its roots in a fishing association formed in the late 1950s to combat external predatory fishing and enable orderly sales of permits to the public. Over the years, the association has been responsible for many efforts to improve fishing in the lake, such as repeated stocking of fish fry and maintenance of brushwood shelters. The association lets the majority of revenue go “back to the lake” through various fisheries-management measures. The association began liming the lake early on, and this has continued ever since, with the result that the water is of the highest quality.
