Nedre Ljungans Sportfiske NEW RULES FROM 12/6/2026 Fishing regulations Nedre Ljungans Sport Fishing 2026 (updated valid from 12/6 2026). The fishing license is valid for sport fishing with a rod in Ljungan from Viforsen to the sea. In Klingstatjärn, Sommartjärn and Vintertjärn fishing is free. In Östtjärn a special fishing license is valid. Allowed fishing methods/gear: Spinning/reel fishing with drag, spinner, wobbler and float with a maximum of 3 flies. Fly fishing with fly rod and fly. Fishing with float and worm/maggot. Ice fishing with a pirk and worm/maggot. Single hook and triple hook lures, wobblers and spinners max 13 mm hook gap. Single hook 13 mm, double hook and triple hook fly max 9 mm hook gap. All other gear and bait are prohibited. All types of sinkers are prohibited. All baits containing lead are prohibited. Minimum dimensions: Sea trout 50 cm Grayling 35 cm Salmon 50 cm Maximum dimensions: Grayling 40 cm Salmon 80 cm Closed hours: Fishing for salmon is prohibited from October 15th to May 15th. Fishing for sea trout is prohibited from October 15th to November 15th. Fishing for grayling is prohibited from March 15th to May 15th. All fishing is prohibited from January 1st through the end of February, with the exception of ice fishing for whitefish. Catch restrictions: Salmon max 1 per day (50-80 cm). Annual quota 2 (50-65 cm) and 1 (50-80) cm per season. All wild sea trout (not finned) must be released. Sea trout max 2 finned (farmed) per day. Grayling max 2 per day. Catch and release: The fishing regulations mean that catch and release is applied, which places high demands on the handling of fish that are to be released (applies to all species). It is very important that the fish's mucus layer is not damaged. The fish must not be lifted out of the water or pulled onto land. The hook must be unhooked using a hook unhooker (peang). Boat fishing: Fishing from an anchored boat is permitted from Viforsen to 100 m upstream of Grenforsen and from Västboforsen to 100 m upstream of the old E4 bridge and from the last rapid to the mouth in the sea. All other boat fishing is prohibited. Prerogative of interpretation by fisheries inspectors Fisheries inspectors have the right of interpretation when assessing compliance with fishing regulations. Other: If several fishermen are staying in the same place, mobile fishing should be applied. Jerk fishing is prohibited. Mishooked fish must be released. Littering is prohibited. Fishing rules may change during the season, for example during low and warm water. The fishing license is personal and may not be transferred. Catches of salmon and sea trout must be reported to iFiske within 48 hours. The catch location must be stated. This also applies to released fish (length and weight of released fish should only be estimated). In the event of a breach of the rules of the fisheries management area, a control fee of SEK 3,000 will be charged and the fishing license may be confiscated and the holder may be banned from fishing. In the event of a breach of the rules regarding salmon fishing, the control fee is SEK 5,000. Young people under 18 fish for free. Nedre Ljungans Sportfiske is managed by the Nedre Ljungans fiskevårdsområdesförening. The members of the fiskevårdsområdesförening consist of the owners of the properties that have fishing rights within the fishery management area. When purchasing a fishing license, the buyer enters into an agreement with the association that means that the buyer is obliged to follow the rules for fishing. In addition to the fishing rules, the buyer is also obliged to behave correctly towards the association's members and officials and other anglers. This requirement also includes actions on social media or in other forms that, if abused, could damage the association's operations. If the association believes that someone is behaving or acting inappropriately, the association reserves the right to deny the person the right to purchase a fishing license for a certain period of time and to cancel an already valid fishing license.
