Åmåls Kommun - Ängebytjärnet Rules • A fishing license must be purchased before fishing begins • The license is valid for one calendar day (midnight to midnight) • The license must be presented to an inspector upon request • Permitted gear includes fly fishing, reel fishing, spin fishing, and ice fishing rods; a maximum of one rod per person. If a rod is placed on a dock or on land with the hook in the water, this is considered bottom fishing, which is prohibited. • In open water (ice-free), fishing must be conducted from shore or a dock unless a float is used (see special rules) • The permit is valid only if the date is filled in or can be verified • The permit is personal and may not be transferred to another person • All types of angling and fishing with bait are prohibited (does not apply to ice fishing) • Maximum catch: 3 fish per permit • Maximum of 3 hooks per fishing line (maximum one fishing rig per person) • Landed fish may not be released (unless otherwise agreed) • The fishing license/payment confirmation and valid identification must be presented to an inspector upon request • Children (ages 0–9) are permitted to fish with a handline (not a casting rod) and live bait* when accompanied by an adult. *Live bait refers to worms and maggots. Children may also fish with standard fly, reel, spinning, or ice fishing rods—but NOT with live bait. Clarification due to inquiries: Powerbait is prohibited (strongly scented artificial baits are also included in this prohibition) Bottom fishing is prohibited Shrimp are prohibited (except during the shrimp fishing season) Handline fishing is prohibited (except for children under 10 years of age) Cast line fishing is prohibited (even for children under 10 years of age) You may not let anyone hold your rod or your child’s rod, as this is considered lending out your fishing license. Adults are also not permitted to fish with a child’s handline. Paddleboard In Ängebytjärnet, paddleboarding is permitted throughout the entire lake during the open-water season. Paddleboard anglers must show consideration for shore anglers, and shore anglers always have the right of way over paddleboard anglers. When fishing from a paddleboard, a proper distance must be maintained so that anglers do not obstruct one another. Our definition of a float raft is that it must be designed as a “traditional” float raft and propelled by paddling with the feet. If the float raft is propelled with oars, it is considered a boat and is not permitted. Private boats, canoes, kayaks, and inflatable mattresses are not permitted in the area! Violation of these rules is considered illegal fishing, which may result in a fine of 1,500 SEK, 5,000 SEK, or 10,000 SEK. Fishing without a valid fishing license is a criminal offense and will be reported to the police. Inspectors have the right to confiscate equipment in the event of a violation of the law or suspicion of an attempted violation.
