Smedjeån

Welcome to fish in Smedjeån and Edenbergaån! Three Swedish miles of exciting fishing waters which beneath the surface hold Halland's regional fish, trout and salmon, as well as chub, ide, perch and pike. Smedjeån and Edenbergaån are located in Laholm Municipality in southern Halland. In Smedjeån and Edenbergaån you can fish: salmon, trout, pike, chub, ide, perch, and more. In earlier times, when the concept of recreational fishing did not exist, a number of mills were built to harness the energy in Smedjeån. This meant that salmon were shut out from their natural spawning grounds. The fish passes at the mill dams now give migratory fish access to spawning grounds in small streams and tributaries. Smolt production in these nature's own nurseries yields returns in the form of exciting trout and salmon fishing. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 11. Only in the company of a guardian/adult/person who has a valid permit (on that person's quota) Landowners along Smedjeån and Edenbergaån who have formed a fishery conservation association that works to try to improve conditions for the fish so that fishing can increase.
