The lake is fed largely by cold groundwater springs and is really deep in places, up to 30metres. The area stretches from the bridge at Kvarnfors down to the boundary with Håkmark. Tavelån has a growing population of brook trout, and strict catch and release applies here. Around the lake there are several barbecue areas with wind shelters and fishing jetties, as well as access to a toilet. The area contains one or more “put-and-take” waters with stocked game fish. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 15.
