Alarpasjöarnas FVOF

Welcome to fish in Alarpasjöarnas fisheries conservation area. The area comprises the lakes Bredsjön, Agnsjön, Kroksjön and Lillesjön. The lakes are relatively shallow and have good pike fishing and plentiful stocks of roach and bream. Although the lakes are small and shallow, fine pike are caught from time to time. Spinning with shallow-running lures or pike fly fishing is recommended. Perch are generally rather small, although fine fish are sometimes found. Some of the lakes are fairly inaccessible, but Bredsjön is easy to reach. NEW RULES FOR FISHING FOR PIKE FROM 2024-03-13: A maximum of two pike under 80 cm may be caught and taken ashore per angler and day. Pike over 80 cm must be promptly released. In Agnsjön, Kroksjön and Lillesjön it is prohibited to fish for pike between 1 April – 30 May. If a pike is caught during this period, it must be promptly released. The rules preserve the largest pike because they are of greatest interest to fishing, are important for retaining genes in the stock that enable growth to a large size, and because, by among other things eating smaller pike, they determine the size structure of the pike stock so that the lakes are not dominated by small pike. Agnsjön, Kroksjön and Lillesjön are small and shallow lakes. Although fishing in the lakes is not extensive, fishing pressure is therefore quite high in relation to how small the lakes are. Since the lakes are shallow, it is usually easy to reach the pike with ordinary spinning. Fishing immediately before and during spawning can affect the pike's spawning success even if they survive catching and release. For example, they may become more passive because of stress after being caught, unhooked and being out of the water for unhooking and possible photography. After spawning, the pike are especially eager to strike and easy to reach in shallow water. Fishing is still permitted in Bredsjön, which is somewhat larger and slightly deeper, so the opportunity to fish for pike in spring still exists there. ICE FISHING/SET LINES has been permitted since 2017. We have a special day permit for this, and you may fish with 5 ice-fishing rods/set lines per person. When fishing with set lines, the use of an ordinary treble hook is recommended, as the traditional hook used for set-line fishing is neither fair to bait fish nor pike. Only 4-stroke engines and electric motors are permitted in the fisheries conservation area; no 2-stroke engines. This is because the area is part of the upper reaches of the Viskan catchment area and therefore forms part of Borås City's water protection area. To monitor how the pike stock in our area develops, we recommend that everyone fishing in our fisheries conservation area submit a catch report after every fishing session. Catch reporting can be hidden if you do not want it to be publicly visible; it then reaches only us at Alarpasjöarnas FVOF but can still provide a basis for managing our fishing. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 15. Alarpasjöarnas fisheries conservation area association manages fishing in the smaller lakes Bredsjön, Agnsjön, Kroksjön and Lillesjön and the watercourses flowing between them. The river flowing between them is not part of the fisheries conservation area. The association mainly works to manage and regulate fishing, monitor fish stocks in the area and make fishing available to the public through the sale of fishing permits.
