Jogen

Jogen is a lake in Ulricehamns kommun in Västergötland which is part of the main drainage basin of Göta älv. The lake is 17 metres at its deepest, has an area of 3,68 square kilometres and is situated 250 metres above sea level. The lake is the second lake in the Tidan lake system. The lake lies within the villages of Liared and Kölingared. The lake offers exciting and rewarding fishing, summer and winter. The water is of good quality with a pH of approximately 7. The bottom in the western part of the lake is sand and the eastern part has a stony bottom. The northern part of the lake is a nature reserve maintained by the County Administrative Board. Adjacent to the lake are two wonderful wilderness trails, on which one can walk for a couple of hours. You are also welcome to visit Årås Kvarn and STF Hostel, an oasis beautifully situated by the River Tidan where it connects the lakes Jogen and Vållern. Årås lies in the middle of "Änglagårdsland", where Colin Nutley made his well-known films. See further If you wish to use your own boat, there is a newly constructed boat ramp at the northern part of Jogen between Varpaledet's bathing place and Årås. There you can easily launch your boat. Only in the company of a guardian/adult/person who has a valid permit (on that person's quota) Jogens fisheries conservation area works to develop and care for fishing in Lake Jogen. We also make the water accessible in various ways, including through the hire of boats and the possibility of launching your own boat, as well as the hire of boat berths.
