Gärdsjön, Rösstjärn och Storaxen

In the waters of Gärdsjön, the village of Nedre Gärdsjö is reflected along the eastern shore, or the forest along the western shore. Gärdsjön is about 80 hectares in size with several fine bays and some islands and peninsulas. Rösstjärn is connected to Gärdsjön via an outlet from the southern end of Gärdsjön. Storaxen is a source lake with crystal-clear water in a beautiful forest setting. Gärdsjön, Storaxen and Rösstjärn contain pike, perch and roach. The lakes, which are easily accessible by forest roads, are open for summer and winter fishing. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 14. Only when accompanied by a guardian/adult/person with a valid permit (within that person's quota). The guardian must have read and approved the applicable fishing rules and regulations. In Gärdsjöbygden, in the heart of Dalarna, you will find many interesting environments from the ancient agrarian era of Sweden's history. You can walk or cycle along Kulturvandringar i Gärdsjö in the extensive Ladriket, on ancient roads lined with rich lime-favoured flora. Perhaps you will stop at Blånnesladu from the 1200s or take part in haymaking at Snis Hannas haymaking cottage. You can also visit Ollas Olles farm with Lekgården or our Dalskåpsmuseum at Gärdsjö Mejeri.
