Mjälasjöarna lie in an area where large masses of water moved during the final stage of the Ice Age. For a time, a large glacial river is believed to have washed sand from Färgenissjön. In the area around Mjälasjöarna, the water flowed more slowly, and silt and sand then sank to the bottom of a glacial lake that was considerably larger than the present lakes in the area. This explains why there is so much sand, fine sand and silt around Mjälahult. Most of the lake area, totalling around 130 hectares, lies in Torup parish. Remember your life jacket. And when ice fishing, ice picks and other safety equipment must be used. Boat and motor hire, call Anna Rask +46(0)73-3835495. Boat hire 120.- per day. Electric motor hire 120.- per day. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 11. Children under 12 fish free.
