Hultsjö södra fisheries management area covers approximately 300 hectares of water surface. Lake Övingen on the Småland highlands in Sävsjö municipality has an area of 240 hectares. Övingen is a nutrient-poor lake with sparse aquatic vegetation, known for its clear, fresh water. The lake is a spring-fed lake belonging to Lagan's main catchment area. At its deepest point, the lake is 32,5 metres. Övingen's shores are mostly steep and in many places consist of rocky outcrops. The lake is bordered by coniferous and mixed forest, arable land and grazing land. Övingen can be difficult to fish but holds both large pike, well-grown perch and large burbot. Those who learn the fishing in the lake can experience good fishing. Burbot of as much as 5,5 kg have been caught and perch fishing has received a boost in recent years. The lake's whitefish stock has also increased - which is positive for the lake's predatory fish. Hållgärds ö has a small farm and an approximately 60-metre-long bridge connection to the mainland. According to legend, the island got its name from a Dutch prince (Prince Hållgärd) who went into exile in the mid-1600s and eventually settled on the island. Övingen contains the fish species: Perch, Pike, Roach, Bream, Tench, Bleak, Bullhead, Whitefish and Burbot. There is no boat ramp in Övingen, but boats and canoes can be hired at Lövshults Turistcenter, 070-6329098, The tourist centre also arranges simple accommodation – military tent indoors or in the hay in the hayloft. Bring your own sleeping bag. The lake has good opportunities for fishing from the shore. Among other things, there is a casting pier by the bridge out to Hållgärdsö, which is also wheelchair-accessible. Along Höglandsleden by the lake's eastern shore there is a barbecue area and wind shelter. The fisheries management area also includes the lakes: Furusjön (Perch, Pike, Roach, Bream, Tench, Burbot). Here, wheelchair users can fish from a pier in the south-eastern part of the lake. The car park is also there.
