Kolsnaren is 12 km² and 12 m at its deepest and drains via Viren to Nyköpingsån. The lakes contain perch, pike, zander, eel, burbot and stocked rainbow trout. Zander and rainbow trout have been stocked continuously by the association in recent years. Interest in sport fishing in the lakes has increased and we sell ever more permits. This has enabled us to carry out quite a number of fisheries conservation measures. Zander has been stocked almost every year; on a few occasions we have also stocked rainbow trout. The lakes also have a small-boat marina. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 17. Only when accompanied by a guardian/adult/person with a valid permit (on that person's catch limit). Kolsnaren-Viren FVOF comprises the lakes Kolsnaren (area:1147 ha) and Viren (1190 ha), which are situated in western Södermanland and form part of the Nyköpingsån water system. The association was formed in 1987; after several appeals and various legal proceedings, its formation was confirmed by the Supreme Administrative Court in 1990. The water owners' fishing rights using various tackle remain unchanged, but all fixed fishing tackle must be checked and marked with the fishing-right number. This fishing is, however, carried out to a very limited extent. We have lake charts showing bottom depths, based on depth sounding carried out.
