All waters within Björksele FVO: part of Hällbymagasinet, Kroktjärn, Abborrtjärn, Stenbittjärn, Östra Kortingvattnet, Västra Kortingvattnet, Valmvattnet and Kultran with tributary streams.KroktjärnPike, roach and stocked trout (a little). Shelter 150m from forest road. Marshy shores, individual trout may remain from previous stockings.AbborrtjärnStocked trout on occasions, rainbow trout (2013), grayling (2024) and perch in a stunted population. 3 Ha. Shelter 400m from forest road. Partly marshy shores, individual rainbow trout from previous stocking may still remain. Trout and perch predominate. Please kill all smaller (<20cm) caught perch, as the population is of a stunted character. The trout in the tarn grow relatively slowly and rarely reach weights above 1kg. Scenic and peaceful character by the tarn. Perhaps you may see the osprey that nests nearby?StenbittjärnNatural and stocked trout every other year, preferably as 1-year-old fish. 15 Ha. Shelter. Mostly marshy shores well suited to back-casting with a fly rod! Very high quality, relatively good growth and average size of the trout. Fishing can at times be demanding, with choosy and selective fish. Visitors are urged to show particular consideration when fishing in the tarn in order to preserve the fine fishing that prevails. Bring mosquito repellent!Östra Kortingvattnet (Ystersjön)Natural trout and a stunted population of perch. 69 Ha. Shelter. Mostly firm shores. Traditionally, the eastern side of the lake is considered best for fishing for trout. The trout (characteristically bronze-coloured) in the tarn can grow really large, and historically individuals of up to 3kg were caught. Please kill all smaller (<20cm) caught perch, as the population is of a stunted character.Västra Kortingvattnet (Åkerbergsjön)Pike, perch, roach. 63 Ha. Mostly firm shores. The lake has fine perch/pike fishing and especially the perch can grow really large.ValmvattnetPike, perch, roach. Shelter on Sandholmen. Good perch and pike fishing. The largest individuals were seldom caught in the lake, but the quality of the fish is very good!Kultran (small river)3 rapid stretches. Pike and perch. Trout and grayling stocked on occasions, preferably as swim-up fry and one-year-old fish. A weak natural remnant population of trout exists. Fine small river with a winding character and some shorter rapids. The population of trout and grayling is weak, so do not expect any large catches of these species. Perch fishing in deeper pools and below the rapids can be really good with fine catches! Perhaps you may see one of the river's many beavers?HällbymagasinetPike, perch, roach, whitefish, and some stocked trout. 263 Ha. Rest area, barbecue, boat launching, shelter, bathing area. Impounded part of Ångermanälven which holds very good fishing for perch and pike. Björksele's part of Hällbymagasinet is considered one of the better places for really large perch. Nevertheless, they can be difficult to find in the large areas that exist. One tip is to fish close to the “floating tussocks” that are found. Every year individuals over 1,5kg are landed! Good and adapted fishing for families with children is available at the bathing area.Grabboksjöbäcken m.fl. tributary streams to KultranSmaller tributary watercourses to Kultran, all of which hold resident populations of trout. In Grabboksjöbäcken, the trout population is abundant and dense but small-growing, with few specimens larger than 2hg. Permits and boat booking Björksele FVO was founded in 1992 and manages fishing within the fisheries management area, which partly consists of Hällbymagasinet and a number of tarns around the village of Björksele. Through cooperation with Gafsele FVO, the permit also includes part of Hällbymagasinet up to Sämsjöbron (road bridge Björkselevägen - Gafsele-Björksele).
