Welcome to the midpoint of Vindelälven!Gargnäs-Råstrands FVO is located in the eastern part of Sorsele municipality, approx. 20 Swedish miles from the sea. Travelling approx. 20 Swedish miles towards the river's headwaters brings you to us, in a scenic area with rapid-filled stretches and large lake areas. We have everything from the mighty rapid section and calm side channels to large lakes and the smallest tarn, and everyone can find their dream spot within the area.VindelälvenWe have a large area with approx. 25 km of river stretch, including nine rapids and seven riffles. There are really good chances of good fishing for salmon, trout and grayling.GargånOne of Vindelälven's largest tributaries. With its headwaters in Gargaure on the Norrbotten border, it winds through forests and marshes down to Vindelälven at Laxselet. Note that fishing in Gargån has its own fishing permit.Gargån has had a good reputation over the years for fishing for large, heavy trout and quantities of grayling. However, over the years the river has been heavily affected by log driving and forestry. Major efforts have been made in restoring the former log-driving channels, and today it has received a substantial facelift, which has proved very positive for the trout in the water. In recent years, our fly-fishing stretch from Dammen in Jorbokksforsen down to Fallet in Trollforsen has produced quantities of fine trout. Grayling fishing has also produced good catches during the same period, but not the really large individuals. Grayling around 7-8 hg are common fish, but those over 1 kg are unusual.Unfortunately, uncontrolled forestry along the watercourse has made the river extremely sensitive to precipitation. During dry periods the river falls to almost catastrophically low levels and high water temperatures. During rainy periods all the water arrives at once and the river rises almost to spring-flood levels. The best fishing period in the river is during early spring until mid-July at best. This depends entirely on how the weather develops.StaggbäckenA tributary of Gargån that flows from Staggträsket and enters Gargån west of the village of Gargnäs.A small watercourse very well suited to fly fishing. The stream is dominated by grayling fishing, but after restorations carried out in 2012 we hope to re-establish the large trout population that once existed in the system. The stream has small short rapids and large pools. In the pools, fishing is dominated by pike and perch, which can be really good. The upper part of the stream has probably been the most fished over the years because of its accessibility. The lower stretch is less used, but with the new "forest road" accessibility is better and perhaps this is where you will find your new paradise.S SobbträskOne of the largest lakes in the area. In recent years we have invested in stocking fish again. The lake contains trout, char, perch, pike, whitefish, vendace, roach and burbot. The lake contains the much-discussed "Vulgatan", but so far has not produced the fishing seen elsewhere. Perhaps it is during the summer fishing that you will catch your dream fish right here?Boats are available for hire for fishing on the lake. An electric motor with battery is also available for hire at Ica Gargnäs.You reach it via a gravel road between Gargnäs and Staggträsk. Fishing prohibition from the stocking occasion (just before ice formation) until 1 January LjusbottentjärnAs its name suggests, the tarn has extremely clear water and resembles a mountain lake. The water contains trout, char and occasional perch. At the tarn there is a restored "lumberjack's hut" owned by the FVO. Here you can seek shelter in bad weather or perhaps stay overnight. The cabin has a large stove and simple bunks that can serve as beds.Fly fishing from the shore is excellent, and you can walk around the tarn in a short while. You reach it via a minor road from road 363 at Orrkulla. The fishing period in the tarn is from the beginning of March (announcement on Facebook) until the stocking occasion in late autumn. Within the area there is one or more accessibility-adapted water. For more information, see the fishing area's map, where these points are marked, or contact Gargnäs-Råstrands FVO. Within the area there is one or more "put-and-take" water with stocked salmonids. Within the area there is one or more water for catch and release, i.e. the fish are carefully released after capture. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 16. There are free fishing permits, which must be obtained, for children and young people
