Stenbithöjdens fiskevatten

Welcome to Stenbithöjden fish-conservation area! Stenbithöjden lies on the boundary between Åsele and Dorotea municipalities and offers visitors a feeling of untouched wilderness, with mountain-adjacent forests and around twenty small lakes, tarns and streams. Parts of the area form a nature reserve with low-mountain character, boasting Åsele's highest mountain, 668 m above sea level. The view from the summit is breathtaking. Golden eagles nest in the area, so seeing them can be an experience. FishingMany of the area's tarns contain self-reproducing stocks of trout, but there are also perch, roach and limited numbers of pike. Another tip is the Stenbitssjöarna in the higher parts of the reserve. Cottages for hire are located beside some of the lakes in the area, including Tjusjöstugan and Oxtjärnstugan. Hire is arranged through Lappland Pro Natur at western Gafsele. The area contains one or more waters for catch-and-release, i.e. the fish are carefully released after being caught.
