Welcome to Storsjöns FVO and SFK Pelikanen! We are based at Storsjön, located approximately 1 mil south of Borås, and offer a fantastic wilderness atmosphere. There you can fish in our 19 lakes and Bålån. You can also walk the trail around Storsjön, discover the beautiful nature and see traces of the old cultural landscape.Storsjön is a man-made lake. To better control water supply, Rydboholmsbolaget AB decided to construct a water reservoir in 1905. The work of blasting a tunnel was completed in 1909 and Storsjön was full of water on 20 January 1910. The level had then risen by 10 metres. An entire landscape with farms and agriculture now lay beneath the surface and has given names to several bays. Storsjön is approximately 150 ha and contains more than 8 million m3 of water. It has an average depth of approximately 5.8m and is deepest at 22.5m.Because of the regulation of the lake, there is little shore vegetation. The lake contains perch, bream, pike, zander, roach and eel. Zander are protected from 1/5 to and including 15/6; minimum size is 45 cm.Birdlife is also part of Storsjön. Every year, black-throated divers, goosanders, goldeneyes, wood sandpipers and common sandpipers breed there, and sometimes we also have a pair of ospreys. The area also includes Abborratjärn, Abborrasjön, Björsjön, Duvesjön, Furesjön, Galtatjärn, Gäddesjö, Kroksjön, Lilla Älsjön, Lomsjö, Madtjärn, Orrleketjärn, Rönnesjö, Skallasjön, Skallatjärn, Stora Älsjön, Storsjön, Vänesjön and Ängsjön. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 15. Handheld tackle only Pelikanen is a large fishing club, with approximately 100 members. The association's main purpose is angling in lakes and at sea. We keep it at hobby level, although some also fish competitively. There are different sections within the club for the following: inland fishing, fly fishing, trolling and sea fishing, and we follow Sportfiskarna's statutes. NOTE!!! IMPORTANT INFORMATIONThere is pollution in Viskan and the Rydboholm dams. Some environmental toxins have slightly too high levels in the fish. We do "not" recommend eating fish caught here. Viskan will be remediated.
