When using tip-ups for ice fishing, a maximum of 5 tip-ups per fishing permit is allowed. Annual permit holders may bring their spouse, partner, and children, who may fish with their own equipment. Youth under 18 fish for free when accompanied by a guardian with a valid fishing permit. Catch Limits & Conservation Measures A maximum of two pikes between 45 and 90 cm may be kept per day and fishing permit. Perch over 40 cm must be released back into the water. Only oars or electric motors are permitted on the lakes; two-stroke engines are strictly prohibited. A speed limit of 5 knots applies on the lakes from April 1 to July 31 to protect nesting birds such as the black-throated diver. Protect Our Lakes from Invasive Species Centralhalländska FVO takes great care of the local lakes and their ecosystems. You can help prevent the spread of invasive species, fish diseases, and non-native aquatic plants and animals. Invasive species can outcompete native species and introduce harmful parasites or diseases. Once established, they are nearly impossible to remove, making prevention crucial. How You Can Help Boats: Many small organisms attach to boat hulls and water inside boats. Clean your boat thoroughly and let it dry completely before launching in a new lake. Fishing: Invasive species can spread via bait. Never use baitfish or crustaceans from other lakes, as they may carry parasites or diseases harmful to local fish. Aquariums & Ponds: Never release aquarium plants or animals into the wild. Avoid emptying aquarium water into ditches, streams, or lakes. The same applies to garden ponds connected to natural waterways. By following these rules, you help protect the unique and diverse fishing waters of Centralhalländska FVO.
