New information 2024 We have received information that the occurrence of Canadian char is increasing in some of our waters, especially Gevsjön. It should not occur, so we ask everyone who catches Canadian char to kill it immediately and submit a catch report. Thank you in advance. New information 2022 Gevsjöströmmen is not covered by the association’s ordinary permit. The slipway at Gevsjöstugan is closed until further notice, and parking must not take place at the cabin unless it has been rented. The barrier will remain closed; please respect this. Åtjärn will also now be excluded from the waters covered by the permit. The reason is the high pressure now affecting the area after the population of the unique Strupsnittsöring became known. Åre Fisksamfällighetsförening is therefore introducing new rules for Åtjärn on a trial basis during 2022. The water will be excluded from the areas covered by our permit, and the following applies to fishing there. Fishing in Åtjärn is permitted only during 1 July-31 August. The number of fish is limited to 2 per angler and day. (min 30 cm) The number of permits sold for Åtjärn is limited to 5 per day. The price of the permit is 500 kr/ day. Permits can be bought 30 days in advance on iFiske. Otherwise, the association’s fishing rules apply. Close to Åre village there are several good fishing opportunities, both summer and winter. There is easy and accessible lake fishing only a few hundred metres from Åre square. At Tegefors between Åre and Duved, fishing in flowing water is possible. Perfect for bringing children. All waters in the area: Åresjön-Åreälven, Tegeforsen, Östra Gevsjön, Nordvästra Kösjön, Ullådalen and Renfjället. There are one or more “put-and-take” waters with stocked game fish in the area. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 16. There are free permits, which must be obtained, for children and young people. Children and young people may fish free of charge up to and including 16 years with a youth permit. Åre Fiske Samfällighetsförening (ÅFSF) manages the following water areas: Åresjön-Åreälven, Tegeforsen, Östra Gevsjön, Nordvästra Kösjön, Gevsjöströmmen, Ullådalen and Renfjället.
