These include, among others, perch, pike, zander, burbot and tench. The lake also holds a weak stock of trout. The fish are often large and well-fed, as evidenced by pike of 15 kg, perch of 2 kg and zander of 9 kg having been caught in the lake.There are also plenty of signal crayfish, but fishing for these is reserved for fishing-rights owners. The most common fishing methods in the lake are trolling, jigging, spinning and angling, but set lines and ice fishing also work well. It is possible to fish both from a boat and from the shore.Nömmen is part of the Emån water system and is located approximately 10 km southeast of Nässjö. Nömmen is a large and fairly nutrient-poor rocky stream lake with clear water. The lake area is 1565 hectares and the greatest depth has been measured at 18 metres. Both steep and gentle shores occur. Nömmen is full of rocky islands, islets and skerries. The lake is a surface-water source for Vetlanda Municipality and has a very high biological function and also holds high rarity values. Breeding bird species include, among others, black-throated diver, osprey, red-breasted merganser, heron and Eurasian hobby.
