Kårahultsjön is a dammed lake in the Lyckebyån water system, located approximately 4 km north of Eriksmåla (junction Rv 25 – Rv 28) in Emmaboda municipality. Kårahultsjön is also called Yggersrydsjön. The most common fish species are pike, perch, roach, bream and tench. Zander stocked 2009. The best fishing for pike takes place from the ice using set lines or ice rod. The largest pike on a set line is 12 kg, but pike of 14-17 kg have been caught in fixed tackle. Perch in weights above 1 kg occur. Around the lake there are breeding pairs of osprey and diver, but also the shy bittern. If you are lucky, you may also see white-tailed eagle or Småland's regional animal, otter. There are two boats in the lake that can be hired. NOTE: You who use your own boat. To prevent the spread of invasive species such as Sjögull and similar plants, the boat, canoe or other craft must be washed and disinfected before launching. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 14. Permits and boat booking The association was formed in 1988 with the purpose of promoting fishing in the lake and safeguarding landowners' interests by granting fishing with handheld tackle in the lake. Anyone wishing to fish must hold a valid permit.
