Part of the lake is designated as a bird-protection area. There are, among others, large pike, perch, roach, tench, eel, bream and rudd. The lake is beautifully situated directly adjacent to the urban area of Hultsfred. Hultsfreds Strandcamping is also here (hultsfredstrandcamping.se), next to the local heritage park. There are cabins, tent and caravan pitches. The campsite also has a waffle café, disc golf, and kayak and canoe hire etc. The club has two hire boats on Hulingen. Boat permits and boat keys are available only from Frendo (0495-100 98) in Hultsfred. See the map of Hulingens FVO below.Stora Hammarsjöns FVOThe approximately 30 lakes within Stora Hammarsjöns FVO lie in woodland. The largest lake is Stora Hammarsjön, at 136 hectares. The lake contains perch, pike, roach, bream, crucian carp, whitefish, vendace, burbot, trout and eel. The area is classified as being of national interest for fishing and outdoor recreation, and many activities can be enjoyed here. Besides being a paradise for anglers, visitors can hike, camp, bathe and pick berries.At Stora Hammarsjön there are cabins, a campsite and a sauna with a hot tub, bookable via Hultsfreds Turistbyrå, 0495-24 05 05.There are often wind shelters and barbecue sites by the waters, and boats can be hired on some lakes. The area has 3 lakes with rainbow trout: Alegöl (fly fishing only), Välen and Djupsjön. Several lakes are adapted for people with reduced mobility. Stora Hammarsjön is approximately 1 mil south-west of Hultsfred, and there is signage from road 23/34 at Hultsfred.Two hire boats are available at Stora Hammarsjön, 2 at Välen and 1 at Stora Åkebosjön.Boat permits and keys are available from Frendo (0495-100 98) in Hultsfred. SFK Kroken was formed in 1964 and now has approximately 350 members. We manage 2 fishing areas with around 30 lakes. We actively work with fishing supervision, stock rainbow trout in 3 lakes and have a carp lake where only members may fish. The rules for carp fishing are on the club's website. Our members have subsidised fishing in the rainbow-trout lakes. In the other lakes they fish free of charge.
