Sjöatorpasjön and Moasjön are part of the Mörrumsån water system. Moasjön (approximately 25 ha) drains into Sjöatorpasjön (approximately 150 ha), which drains into Lake Salen through Skaddeån. Several streams flow into the two lakes; the largest inflow comes from Älganäsasjön. The lakes are relatively nutrient-poor and the surroundings are dominated by coniferous forest with smaller elements of cultivated land and meadowland. The lakes are relatively shallow and stony, with an estimated average depth of 1 m and a maximum depth of 3,5 m. A depth map is available. At Hjortsberga settlement there is a beautiful lakeside walk following the eastern shore of Sjöatorpasjön, where there are also jetties, barbecue areas and information signs. The shores are sandy and stony but change into gently sloping muddy bottom.
