Pentäsjoki FVOF

The Pentäsjoki water system begins in the streams that carry water to Lake Pentäsjärvi in the south-western parts of Pajala municipality. Here you can travel by boat along a ten-kilometre stretch. On its way towards the Torne River, the stream system passes several small villages and grows in size as more watercourses join it. Soon after the stream crosses the boundary into Övertorneå municipality, it joins Aapuajoki, which has a conservation-worthy trout stock. Several longer rapids occur along the stretch, where grayling is often plentiful. Between the rapids there are calmer pools where you can fish for rising fish or catch larger pike and sometimes perch. In Neistenkangas/Pello, Pentäsjoki finally flows into the Torne River, where the migrating sea trout begins its journey up the stream. In Pentäsjoki you fish for Grayling, Trout, Pike, Perch etc. You fish from shores with old forest, mires, meadows and heathland. Animals in the forest include moose, reindeer, lynx and bear. Along the eastern side of Pentäsjoki there is a partly boardwalked snowmobile/hiking trail with barbecue huts and an overnight hut with sauna. Older bridges and stone piles built for timber floating remain today. Roads are adjacent to the stream, but if you want to reach the more remote parts, expect to walk some distance. Fishing is free for children under 15. The fishing rules are the same for children and adults. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 15. Otherwise the same fishing rules apply to children as to adults. The purpose of Pentäsjoki fish-conservation-area association is to coordinate fishing activities and promote the common interests of fishing-rights holders, taking into account the regulations applicable to fishing, and to make fishing available to the public. The association was formed in 2016.
