Immeln

Lake Immeln is located in north-eastern Skåne, with a smaller part in Blekinge. It lies approximately 81 m above sea level and has an area of 24 sq km. The greatest depth is 28 m and the average depth 7,2 m. By water, the distance from the southern tip of the lake at the community of Immeln to its northern part is approximately 20 km. The shoreline with bays is 128 km. The lake is limed continuously to maintain a necessary pH value. Of the more than one hundred islands, some are bird protection areas, which means that landing is prohibited during certain periods. At several places around the lake there are boat rentals and opportunities for tourists to rent accommodation. The permit applies to spin fishing including trolling with two rods, fly fishing, bait fishing, ice fishing and set-line fishing. Of the total twelve fish species in the lake, pike, perch, bream, tench, roach and whitefish are the most common. Pike fishing in particular has been praised by tourist spin anglers. To preserve and develop a rich pike stock, pike under 40 cm and over 80 cm must be released. A lake chart is for sale at the places that sell permits. The lake chart is of great assistance, in addition to navigation, also for fishing. It contains, among other things, shoal markings and detailed depth contours. Active fisheries supervision is conducted within the fisheries management area to promote the lake's unique fishing. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 14. Only when accompanied by a guardian/adult/person holding a valid permit (on that person's quota) Children under 15 fish free of charge. When accompanied by an adult, that adult must hold a valid permit. Fishing in the lake is managed by Immelns fisheries management area association, with the purpose, among other things, of granting fishing to the public through the sale of permits.
