Laxsjön, Långbrohöljen

Laxsjön is situated at Billingsfors and just south of Bengtsfors. The lake is part of the Dalsland Canal lake system. Several larger inflows come from the northern and western parts of the lake. One at Billingsfors from Lelång via Bengtsbrohöljen and the other at Skåpafors, which comes from Lake Svärdlång. Stenebyälven flows into the western parts of the lake south of Billingsfors. At the southern end of the lake is Långbron and via Långbroströmmen the water flows to Långbrohöljen (which is also included in Laxsjön's fishing area), then via Mustadfors and to the next lake, Råvarpen. Laxsjön's deepest point is approximately 57 metres. Laxsjön is a lake with relatively clear and cold water. The shores around the lake are mainly bedrock, cliffs and stony beaches. There are also some shallower reed bays, mainly in the northern part of the lake and the eastern part at Fjäll. There are a total of eight islands or smaller islets. Around the lake, coniferous forest mainly grows, with elements of deciduous forest. Billingsfors is situated on the western side of the lake and the paper mill can be seen from the central parts of the lake. On the south-eastern side of the lake, Baldersnäs dominates the view. A large promontory running north-south, with the northern tip of the peninsula called “Världens ände”. At Världens ände there are shelters and campsites. On the eastern side of the lake there are buildings such as summer cottages and villas. In the northern parts of the lake you see some buildings at Skåpafors; otherwise the view is dominated by forest-clad slopes down to the lake. The lake has a natural trout stock and every year trout weighing up to 7 kg are caught. Pike and perch reach high weights in Laxsjön. The largest pike at 15,1 kg and perch at 2,4 kg! Good ice fishing for large perch. Fish species: perch, pike, roach, bream, tench, whitefish, vendace, rudd, burbot and trout. For pike, fish between 50 and 80 cm may be retained, and for trout 1 fish per permit and day with a minimum size of 60 cm! Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 15. Only when accompanied by a guardian/adult/person holding a valid permit (on that person's quota) Laxsjöns FVO manages fishing in a lake in Dalsland with good stocks of large trout, pike, perch, burbot and bream.
