Åreälvens Nedre KFO

Åreälven’s Lower Short-Fishing Area is a cooperation between Helgesjöns FVOF, Litens Västra FVOF and Undersåkersälvens FVOF. The short-fishing area offers a shared sport-fishing permit (separate permits for each individual fishing area can still be bought). The short-fishing area is centrally located in Åre Municipality, scenically and easily accessible. Åreälven belongs to a Natura 2000 area and is protected from hydropower development; the area around Ristafallet is classified as a nature reserve. Helgesjön and Liten contain vendace, grayling, pike, perch, trout and lake trout. Fishing in the lakes is mostly carried out from a boat, but in winter from the ice. Åreälven has approximately 15 km of flowing water and flows into Lake Liten. Spinning and fly fishing from the bank for grayling and trout up to the 14 m-high Ristafallet. Upstream of the falls there is only a natural population of trout. Fishing can be carried out here from the bank, but also from a boat in the calm pools. Fish availability is high in our waters.Helgesjöns FVOFHelgesjön lies just north of Undersåker. The lake offers varied fishing for pike, perch, vendace, grayling, trout and lake trout.Litens Västra FVOFLake Liten, situated between Järpen and Mörsil, offers varied fishing in the Åreälven river channel. The lake has several inlets and outlets and many small islands.Undersåkersälvens FVOFLies between Lake Åresjön and Liten and is a strongly flowing water with numerous rapids. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 15. Åreälven’s Lower Short-Fishing Area works to facilitate fishing tourism and increase accessibility to the waters in Åre Municipality. Åre, perhaps best known for its beautiful winter landscape and alpine activities, has a hidden beauty beneath the snow cover. When the spring flood has subsided, the streams begin to murmur and the trees turn green. By then the après-ski has long since fallen silent. That is when the wonderfully beautiful summer landscape, which has waited beneath the snow cover all winter, reveals itself. With good and sustainable management of our waters, we want to offer exceptional mountain fishing that creates experiences and memories.
