Bjännsjön

The FVO manages the fishing in the lake, which lies approx. 16 km south-west of Umeå, beside the road towards Gräsmyr. Visit our website for the latest information. Four villages lie around the lake: Bjännsjö, Degersjö, Innersjö and Yttersjö. Bjännsjön is easily accessible as a road runs all around the lake. Parking spaces are available at several locations around the lake. See the fishing map. Bjännsjön, which covers around 300 ha, is approx. 3,9 km long and at most 1,4 km wide. The shores consist mainly of arable land; mixed woodland and some marsh areas are also present, particularly at Bjännsjöviken and Järphålet. Bjännsjön is the municipality's third-largest lake. Despite its size, it is a shallow lake. The deepest section is 7 metres and is located in Yttersjöviken. Catches of large pike weighing up to 10 kg are made annually, and during the 2009 fishing year the largest known pike caught with a rod weighed 11 kilos. There are plenty of perch in the lake, and perch weighing a kilo are not unusual. During test fishing in 2009, the largest perch caught was 44 cm long, and the lake's perch record is just over 1,8 kilos. The fish stock in Bjännsjön consists of perch, pike, roach, bream and burbot. Stocking has taken place with 1-summer-old zander and, on some occasions, also large trout (0,8-2,5 kg). The FVO has a boat for hire. Visit our website for information on how you can hire the boat. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 16. Only in the company of a guardian/adult/person who holds a valid fishing permit (from that person's quota). Children under 16 fish free in the company of a guardian, but the guardian must of course hold a valid fishing permit.
