Mo-Östersjöns FVOF

The area’s waters include Mosjön (310 ha) and Östersjön (140 ha), as well as a number of smaller lakes/tarns and watercourses such as Flärken, Flärkån, Gällerån, Brusån, Fjälån and Bölesbäcken. The water system is connected to Indalsälven via Fjälån. The landscape around the waters is dominated by coniferous forest and marshland. Permanent buildings are found in the villages of Sjör, Mo and Åsen; the nearest built-up area is Lit. Mosjön and Östersjön contain high-quality vendace; otherwise the fish fauna consists of plentiful perch, large pike and coarse fish such as ide and roach. Tench have been stocked in Mosjön and have shown good growth. The area’s small lakes are characterised as pike and perch waters. Flärkån, Brusån and Fjälån are reproduction sites for the vendace in Mosjön and Östersjön. Fjälån, Gällerån and Bölesbäcken contain resident trout. Free fishing for children and young people up to and including the age of 16. Children under 16 accompanying a parent/guardian do not need to pay a fee. Mo-Östersjön’s Fishing Conservation Association was founded in 1992. The association’s purpose is to coordinate fishing activities, promote the common interests of fishing-right holders while taking into account the regulations applicable to fishing, and make fishing available to local residents and the public through the sale of fishing permits.
